Fall Festivals:

N. Salvage and D. Rudyk reported that a lot of swag was handed out to visitors and that the outing was worthwhile since they were able to answer plenty of good questions from the public.

D. Santarella and S. Brown reported a lot of interest from visitors and that materials were handed out - barely any left after the event. overall lots of information was shared.

Portal Village Craft Market:

Friends over 55 pamphlets were the most popular. Not as much engagement or swag handed out. Most people had information or weren't interested since they were residents of portal village.

S. Brown asked the group if they should proceed with the December 7th outreach opportunity. N. Salvage responded that it was a good opportunity.

the group provided the following suggestions on how it should be spent i.e. marketing, programming, etc..

  1. Roll up signage for outreach programming
  2. Name tags with logo and names
  3. Host a Seniors expo with community partners and informational booths. Plan for Thursday, June 12th, 2025, to be incorporated in Senior's month.
    • Budgeting for advertising, food, and drinks, venue, vendor incentives and hand-outs.
    • S. Brown is going to approach the club and see if they are open to the event.
    • U. Hudson suggested coordinating with surrounding municipalities so that similar events don't coincide.

Stephanie Powell-Baswick sent along a report to members regarding the meeting. Stephanie reported that over 12 municipalities were in attendance, and issues such as; regional and city transportation system improvements required for seniors, the Ontario for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and Age friendly council call for board members were discussed. Port Colborne's resources were shared and other municipalities were impressed with the easy to read brochure and flyer. Of note, a 2023 study that asked Niagara Region seniors their top 5 priorities was shared. The findings were city specific if the group would like a copy of the Port Colborne seniors shared. Ursula would like them sent along with the minutes.

  1. D. Rudyk reported to the group that the Niagara Health Coalition meeting at the Port Colborne Hospital was a great meeting to provide resources to seniors and hopefully we can attend one in the future.
  2. U. Hudson reported to the members that there would be a Senior's Dance at Friends Over 55 Senior's dance next Saturday, November 29th.
  3. S. Brown reported that the Port Colborne Friends Over 55 Christmas Tea event is on December 6th.
  4. S. Brown asked if there would be a meeting in December.
    1. The group asked if Sloane could send out a poll to see if people want to do a meeting or not.
