The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:00am

Motion to adopt the agenda for September 17th.

Motion to approve the minutes from August 20th, 2024.

No business arising from minutes. 

Rosemari Poisson has given the committee a table at the Oct. 5th Downtown Harvest festival 

the committee discussed the schedule for this festival, what we would need and what we will offer. 

S. Brown, N. Salvage, T. McDowell and M. Cooper are available to man the table. 

S. Brown mentioned the committee has previously partnered with the Alzheimer's Society to share a table and serve coffee. 

Lock 8 Main street BIA Harvest Festival is on Oct. 6th. S. McDowell will contact the BIA to ask about a table. Once confirmed S. McDowell will email asking for volunteers. 

Portal Village Craft Show is on Nov. 15th from 10am-2pm. This show is inside and a table will be provided. D. Rudyk volunteered to man the table, and S. McDowell will email for other volunteers. 

Baptist Church craft show is on Dec. 7th from 10am-3pm. Sloane will email for volunteers. 

T. McDowell reported on a Connecting Care Niagara Learning session on the prevention and treatment on UTIs. The session is on September 24th from 9am-11am at the Stevensville Memorial Park. S. McDowell will email the poster to members. 

S. Powell-Baswick reported the a budget has been requested for the committee for 2025, and the committee should start thinking about how they would like to use the budget; whether on marketing or programs. 

S. Powell-Baswick reported the the New Horizons Grant has been applied to, which includes funding for the committee. 

S. Brown requested that the committee look into purchasing name tags for future events. 

U. Hudson suggested the name tags be of a larger font so seniors can see it. 

S. McDowell will look into what other committees use, and the price for name tags. 

Councilor M. Aquilina reported that the next Niagara Older Adult Association meeting will be held on Nov. 13th from 8:30am-12:00pm at the Aquatics Centre in St. Catharine's. There will be a presentation on regional transit systems. S. McDowell will forward the information to the committee. 

U. Hudson reported on the last Learning Café presenter Sue Lantz on planning for your passing. U. Hudson reported that Sue Lantz is available for talks and would be willing to come in and speak to the committee.  

M. Cooper requested that the committee focus on outreach tables as the weather gets colder. The arena at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre would be a great place to have an outreach table. 

T. McDowell asked if a table would be available at the library. M. Cooper reported that a table can be set up at the library for the committee however often as we see fit. 

S. McDowell will create and forward a poll to members to see when and how often we would like an outreach table at the library. 

The Chair adjourned the meeting at approximately 10:50am.
